“High Rate of Problem Drinking Reported Among Lawyers”

New York Times Lawyers struggle with substance abuse, particularly drinking, according to an ABA study conducted with the Hazelton Betty Ford Foundation. The study found that approximately 34% of lawyers suffer from substance misuse and 40% of lawyers suffer from either depression or anxiety. These startling statiscs have changed the way many lawyers and legal employers are now thinking about the culture surrounding the practice of law.
